Rome is an exciting place to be. A city filled with history and culture, it’s the perfect blend of relaxation and exploration

Culinary delights, historical discoveries, exciting excursions, romantic locales, and countless photo opportunities combine to ensure you’ll make memories of a lifetime. But what if you had the opportunity to venture from Rome on a day-trip? Where would you go? Here are three of our favourite Rome day-trip excursions:

Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast

Avventure Bellissime guests say that this small-group day tour to picturesque Pompeii and the postcard-perfect Amalfi Coast, with breathtaking views of Mediterranean architecture and historical ruins, is a wonderful way to spend a day.

Once back in Rome, we suggest spending an evening on a terrace sharing day-trip stories with fellow travelers over a glass of wine!

JennaBird from Boston took this day-trip back in October 2012 and had this to say on TripAdvisor: “[Pompeii and Amalfi:] What a beautiful place. We had a great time with our tour guide Juan who brought us out to the Amalfi coast. He took care of our group and was truly interested in our group. He was informative and directed us to a wonderful meal of fresh sea food. The beaches and landscape was stunning! We stopped off on a cliff for fresh pressed orange juice – it was the best I ever had!”

Nbppat from Thousand Oaks got back from this trip this month (May 2013): “We had a great time on our trip from Rome to Amalfi and Pompeii. If you only have a very short amount of time and want to see as much as possible, this is the best way to accomplish that…All in all, a very pleasant day with great driver/guides.”

MaryKateB had a similarly great time in May 2013: “This tour is a great option for travelers that want to see a lot of the coast, but don’t have the time in their agenda to stay in that area. We traveled to Amalfi, Positano, and Pompeii. You spend about an hour in Amalfi, two hours in Positano, and about two hours on a private tour in Pompeii. The remainder of the time is spent driving from location to location. The views along the Amalfi Coast are absolutely breathtaking…well worth it!”

Tuscany Day Tour

In this day-trip from Rome, you’ll visit one of the most famous wine regions in Italy, home to famous Brunello of Montalcino in Southern Tuscany, and Orcia Balley Unesco Heritage Site since 2004. With enchanting hill towns, the Medieval Montalcino and Renaissance Pienza, spectacular Tuscan country roads lined with Cypress trees and majestic villas, and numerous wine tastings at select estates, this trip to Tuscany is a favorite among visitors. Also home to the Sant Antimo Abbey, you’ll experience a great mark in architectural history — this Abbey was built in 781 A.D.

Chona C from Miami loved both the tour and her guide! She posted the following on TripAdvisor upon her return from Tuscany in June 2012: “Tour started in Venice…Then off to Florence where Luca was our guide to Tuscany/Chianti. He did an excellent job and we really enjoyed our wine tasting…Highly recommended!!!! Till next time Italia!!!”

Tom M from New Jersey wrote this: “We took the Tuscany day tour and not only tasted some superb wine and cheese, but also visited some of the most charming medieval cities imaginable.

“Our driver was professional and helpful and our stops also included an amazing vineyard with views of Tuscany which could appear in a postcard. It was a great escape into the country from the buzz of Rome and is a full day, but is well worth it. Highly recommended!”

If you want to send more than just a day exploring Tuscany, consider one of Avventure Bellissime’s other exciting Tuscany trips. Tivoli and Villa Hadrian

Experience the history of Tivoli on this exciting eight-hour tour. Once surrounded by countryside, this incredible city was transformed into villas, estates, gardens, and terraces during the 1500s. With waterfalls and fountains, Tivoli is the perfect place for a relaxing day-tour escape.

Join an English-speaking expert guide and driver in an air-conditioned vehicle as you visit Villa D’Este and Hadrians Villa. Explore the famous Canopus and Teatro Marittimo and the beautiful Fontana dell’Organo. Enjoy an optional lunch or just sit in the shade beneath one of Tivoli’s ancient Cypresses. The perfect trip for exploring and unwinding.

So where will you go next?
