A moderate level walk over rolling hills and through beautiful countryside to discover the ruins of the ancient Hill Town of Castelvecchio. Includes a visit to San Gimignano.

This day tour takes us to the ruins of Castelvecchio, a fortified village of the middle ages located between San Gimignano and Volterra. The foundation walls of this village are still visible inside a nature reserve on the outskirts of San Gimignano.

We'll hike through the woods to visit the ruins - two watch towers and a church are still in tact. For this two hour hike of the archeological site on dirt roads and trails, adequate shoes with grip are required.

After enjoying an optional light lunch and wine tasting at a local trattoria (home-cooking), we'll spend the afternoon visiting San Gimignano, before returning to Florence.
