What to wear on a Cinque Terre Day Trip? Our recommendation
It's essential to wear comfortable and practical clothing suitable for the region's variable weather and terrain. Here are some recommendations for what to wear on one of our Cinque Terre day trips:
  • Suitable walking shoes: as you will be exploring the villages and possibly hiking the trails, opt for sturdy, comfortable walking boots, closed toe shoes or sneakers with non-slip soles. Avoid wearing flip-flops or sandals, as the paths can be uneven and rocky.
  • Light, breathable clothing: wear lightweight, breathable clothing that dries quickly, as the weather can be warm, especially during summer months.
  • Waterproof jacket: even during the summer, rain showers are possible in Cinque Terre. Bring a lightweight, packable waterproof jacket to keep you dry in case of unexpected rain.
  • Sun protection: the sun can be intense in Cinque Terre, so it's essential to bring sun protection items like a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen with a high SPF. Apply sunscreen regularly throughout the day to protect your skin.
  • Swimsuit and towel: if you plan on swimming at one of the beautiful beaches or taking a boat tour, pack a swimsuit and a lightweight, quick-drying towel.
  • Small backpack: bring a small backpack or crossbody bag to carry essentials like water, snacks, sunscreen, and any extra layers or accessories you may need during the day.

Our guide, Leonardo, was fantastic. Spent the time on the road talking about the areas we passed and their history. Humor added throughout. Saw 3 of the 5 fishing villages, though 2 would have been sufficient. The weather was nice so we were able to take the ferry between 2 of the villages. We trained back and Leonardo met us at the train station. We only had to walk the dowhills! A lot of beautiful landscapes to behold. Worth the trip.
