Tour Overview Tour Overview

Naples is so much more than just pizza! Its origins date back to 9th century B.C. making it one of the most ancient cities in Europe. Our tour will feature just the right ingredients to help you discover not only the major monuments and the Greek and Roman history of the city but also its culinary heritage passed on through generations.

Our foodie experience, an authentic Naples food walking tour, will start in Piazza del Plebiscito - the main square in the historical district. It's tradition to start your day with a good coffee - sip a local espresso or cappuccino at Gran Caffè Gambrinus while our guide introduces you to the history of Italian coffee.

Now you are ready to discover all the main monuments: the 17th century Royal Palace, Galleria Umberto shopping gallery, Opera House San Carlo Theatre,
Maschio Angioino Castle, also called Castel Nuovo.

Once you have satisfied your historical curiosity we will head straight to the food market “La Pignasecca”. This is the heart of Naples and the food market of the locals. A good Naples food tour couldn’t forget this magic place! Fish markets, veggie sellers, authentic grocery stores. We will stop at the fish market "Pechiera Azzurra" followed by "Fiorenzano" - the oldest friggitoria ever established. It is the universe where we are going to enjoy our second food experience tasting fried fish and its hot croquettes, fried zucchini flowers, zeppole (deep-fried dough balls) - the real neapolitan finger food.

During this Naples private tour, we will proceed to the historical district to admire Greek-Roman Naples and its more than two thousand years long history and monuments. We will also taste the famous ragù sauce - the traditional Neapolitan sauce made with tomato and at least four different types of meat cooked for more than 6 - 8 hours. You can't miss it!

The tour cannot conclude without tasting some of the famous pastries. They are mostly seasonal but you can always find the classic ones like a sfogliatella or the Babà (which surprisingly is also a great digestive), or a little piece of chocolate called “Foresta” at the chocolate shop Gay Odin establised in 1830.
Sharing the best pizza could be the best way to finish this culinary experience, but it will be up to you!
