Tour Overview Tour Overview

Puglia, often called "Italy's second Tuscany", is usually known for its delicious food, olive oil, maserie farmhouses and lovely white towns like Alberobello or Ostuni. However, with its long and colorful history (as a maritime city it even rivaled Venice at one point!) and Greek-Byzantine & Romanesque heritage, Bari is considered one of Puglia's treasures and should not be missed in your Apulian itinerary.

Our Private Bari Walking Tour will start with Basilica of St. Nicholas - one of the most emblematic examples of Romanesque architecture in Puglia. Located in the Old Town (Bari Vecchia) the church hosts services for both: Catholic and Orthodox religions. One of our local expert English speaking guides will lead you on a fascinating stroll through the Crypt hosting the Saint's relics. These guided Bari tours will explore the Old Town and Strada del Carmine street with its artisan shops and souvenirs. You will stop by San Sabino Cathedral known for the remains of the Byzantine Duomo and magnificent floor mosaics.

Our Bari city tour will continue with a walk by the 12th century Swabian castle - one of the top local attractions. We will enjoy passing under Arco Alto and Arco Basso arches where you can still find local women making and selling orecchiette - traditional Apulian pasta. Next on the list will be the modern part of the city - stop by Palazzo Mincuzzi to admire liberty style architecture, walk on the sea promenade - if you are lucky the fish market will be open.

Admire typical busy life in Piazza del Ferrarese and Piazza del Mercantile squares, full of bars and restaurants and people enjoying socializing. Last but not least, climb the Bari Walls before concluding your Puglia walking tours.
