Of course I couldn’t move on from Tuscany before highlighting this romantic gem. So beautiful it inspired the term “Florence syndrome” in the 1970’s when a handful of visitors became deeply attached to the awe-inspiring works of art they visited.

Florence is an unmissable city for couples looking to celebrate their love, and solo travelers looking to simply immerse themselves in the romance of Italy.

The people of Sicily are also incredibly welcoming and friendly, making it a truly special place to visit.

Palermo, the island's capital, offers a vibrant atmosphere and a rich cultural heritage. After an exhilarating day of hiking, you may both be after something a little more relaxing?

Other romantic pursuits include visiting one of the many vineyards for a luxurious wine tasting experience. Or how about picking olives together at one of the olive groves dotted on the mountain?
