The tour features a guided walking tour of the city of Verona with a local expert guide from Verona, scenic drives through the enchanting hill country of the Valpolicella wine region where we'll visit an enchanting hill town with distant views of Lake Garda. Before visiting a celebrated vineyard where you'll taste the famous "Amarone" wine, you'll have the option of taking lunch at a charming restaurant overlooking the vineyards and hills, and the distant plains far below. On a two and a half hour walking tour of Verona, you'll quickly understand that this city is much more than the famous Roman amphitheatre and the ill-fated love affair of Romeo and Juliet. Starting with the Romans conquering Verona, and ending with its contemporary history, the different ages of the city are visible through all the various monuments scattered around its historical centre. After a fascinating walking tour around the city of Verona, we'll drive up into the nearby hills to explore the delightful countryside of the Valpolicella wine region. Optional lunch can be taken at a restaurant high up in the hills, famous for its cuisine that includes home-made pasta, and its incredible views of the surrounding hills covered in vines our generous host will give you an introduction to the local wines. In the afternoon, we'll drive through the glorious countryside of the Valpolicella wine region, crossing the series of hills, that like fingers stretching out from the mountains above create the several valleys that make up the celebrated wine growing area of the Valpolicella. Along the way we'll see numerous enchanting villages, and delightful views. At a hill town with distant views of Lake Garda, and a delightful Longabord church we'll reflect on the beauty of this region. To celebrate our day in true style, we'll visit a celebrated vineyard in the Valpolicella wine region where you'll tour the vineyard facilities to thoroughly understand the unique methods of making the famous Amarone wine that date back to the times of the Romans who first introduced wine making to the hills around Verona.
