WHEN TO VISIT ITALY ON VACATION

Probably most travellers choose to visit Italy based on the climate and weather to be expected during their visit. Obviously, the seasons that offer the best weather are also the  most expensive seasons to travel. Typically May to June, and September to October are high season months as wetaher during this time is usually ideal for touring. But, no-one can guarantee the weather is always the same, with global warming and other issues the weathermen & annula predictions or forecasts in Italy are as relaible as weathermen from any other part of the globe.

For those more concerned about the final price of their vacation, the month of August offers the best value of the summer months for travel. In most guide books, some of them a little out of date, August is referred to as the busiest month of year for cities like Rome, Florence & Venice. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Yes! Some busineeses do close down, as Italians take their annual vacation, but just imagine yopur home town with no commuter traffic or hordes of people going about their business. The cities become a lot more manageable and you can enjoy up to 25% savings on high season rates if you travel at this time of year.

August has also been labelled as the hottest month of the year in Italy when only students visit Italy., afterall the Italians all go to the beach in August. In fact, July in recent years has had the higher temperatures whereas during the last few years fall has arrived early and August has been a particularly pleasant month to travel in Italy.

Many people searching for bargains and low prices think that travelling to Italy in the winter months will result in a lower priced vacation for themselves. Unfortunately, for these travellers,  the winter months in Rome & Florence signal the arrival of another type of travel for the hotels in these cities with many conventions and congresses taking place maintaining price levels close to peak travel months.

Also, when you travel in the winter months the days are longer, the weather becomes more unpredictable and with high-water in Venice a vacation in Italy could be quite a challenging endeavour. On the positive you will have all the treasures and must-see sights pretty much to yourselves when travelling to italy.

Generally speaking the summer season is from Easter until the clocks are turned back in October. A late Easter also makes travel to Italy very appealing in late March or early April when you can enjoy fairly good weather and low rates. But, please note that Italy is as vunerable as any other place to inclement weather.
