This tour features the medieval-walled town of Lucca and a visit to a town famous for its marble sculptors, as we travel through the beautiful Appuan Alps where the fanous Carrar marble is quarried. We'll drive up into the Appuan Alps to visit the enchanting village of Pietrasanta. The village is famous for its marble sculptors who work on marble quarried in the nearby hills.

After an interesting tour of the town we'll visit a sculptor's studio to see the fine work of the local artisans. Following a break for lunch (optional) in Pietrasanta, we'll make our way to the beautiful city of Lucca. Once the capital of the Longobards Italy, this city is famous for its sturdy walls that still encircle the town and its Romanesque architecture. After a walking tour of Lucca, we'll have free time for shopping before returning to Florence. |
